VAL D’ORCIA:
The valley embraces the town territories of Castiglione d’Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani e San Quirico d’Orcia.
It also includes an awesome nature park, which is recognized as ANPIL ( protected natural area) from the Tuscany region district. The park administration consist in the safeguard of the natural resources and of the human progress at he same time: thanks to its sustainable development policy the Val d’Orcia nature park is a perfect union of wild nature and human life.
It’s a great natural place, thanks to its wonderful woods: firs, oaks and beech trees rule the ancient, unchanged landscape in conjunction with other botanical rarities.
Wild animals like wolves, fawns and small mammals populate the unspoilt woods together with hawks and several species of birds.
Anyone interested in bird-watching, mountain-bike excursions or simply in nature would unbelievably enjoy the green-focused holiday.Our walk features include a flower and mushroom identification lesson, stops in the best hidden bird watching sites, picnic in the sunniest lawns and several open-air activities like stream crossing, fruits gathering, orientation and survival tips.
The tour lasts 2 days and one night, which will be spent in a camping in the closeness of the second-day path ( Camping residence Amiata).
Comfortable garment and shoes are needed to face the experience in a more enjoyable way; a flask and a walking stick are also highly recommended. The relaxing walking in the nature will leave you refreshed and satisfied like never before.
Itinerary summary:
Day 1: The group will meet at our office in Arcidosso at 10.15. After the meeting with the guide, the group will head to Casteldelpiano, following a 3 km trail through the woods of Monte Amiata. There will be a lunch break at 12:00, spent in a nice lawn nearby the path. During the walk, the guide will stop several time to show the group the typical flora and fauna of the place. At the arrival in Casteldelpiano, there will be the welcome and the accommodation in the camping.
Day 2: The meeting point is the entrance of the camping: the group will gather there at 9:00,then the 6,5 km route to Seggiano will begin. After the lunch (12:00) there will be a free hour to relax or to have a short stroll in the woods. During this time, the bird-watching interested will be led to the best spotting areas of Monte Amiata. After the consequent meeting the guide will illustrate how to survive and orientate in the wood, showing how to recognize the eatable or poisonous fruits and mushrooms.
Is anticipated that arrival in Seggiano will be about 18:30.
