Nature & Sport

Castiglione d’ Orcia is a fantastic location of original landscapes. You can find sources, extraordinary animals and plants with hills and cretaceus crags. Sowed fields and Mediterranean maquis area create different kaleidoscopes of colours in every season. Breathtaking views!!!

Trekking and Cycling: an adventurous trip!

Monte Amiata offers a lot of itineraries for trekking and bike tours. You can use the Nature Train as well, a special train for people who like fabulous landscapes and colours. Especially for the protected wildlife lovers there are well-marked trails in the woods with their rare animals and plants.

One of our itineraries starts from Castiglione d’Orcia to Vivo d’ Orcia. It is as long as 12.5 Km, for about 5 hours. This is a trekking tour on the slopes of the mountain, to discover nature and extraordinary colours. This is an itinerary suitable for all ages!

Riding a horse you can discover new pleasures for  your senses, the freedom and peacefulness that you can experiment only HERE!
There are a lot of specific itineraries a few kms away form Castiglione d’Orcia and the nearest manège is in Arcidosso.

A little bit of…Football…

Another very popular sport here is Football! Infact there are two football pitches where you can play football, or just see one of the training session of the “Associazione Polisportiva Vivo d’Orcia” team.

Fishing or Relaxing?

Vivo, Ente, Ombrone and Orcia are the most important rivers of this area and these four rivers beget many tarns. There you can go fishing and enjoy yourself, because the water is clining and there are a lot of ichthyic species. There is also an artificial pond, Diga, a fantastic lacustrine mirror.
